New York is a great state to visit to explore exciting wine regions. There are hundreds of wineries around the state, set on the shores of the Finger Lakes, amid the farms of the beautiful North Fork of Long Island, and even on piers in Manhattan and Brooklyn! The Finger Lakes features more than 100 wineries, many that have earned national recognition. Long Island’s North Fork and South Fork, about two hours east of New York City, offer another nationally-known wine country. The Hudson Valley is home to more than 30 wineries. Cold winter temperatures along the Niagara Escarpment produce world-famous ice wines, made from grapes frozen on the vine.
