The AVA is located in in Clinton and Essex Counties in New York State, near the Adirondack Mountains and the border with Vermont. In this extremely cool climate, you’ll find cold-hardy native and hybrid varieties.
The Champlain Valley is bordered by the Adirondack Mountains to the west, the Green Mountains of Vermont to the east, the Taconic Mountains to the south, and Canada to the north. While the Hudson River drains south to New York City and the Atlantic Ocean, Lake Champlain flows north to the St Lawrence River.
