There are currently no recognized AVAs within Nevada. The State of Nevada has been making wine since around 1990. There are no official “American Viticultural Areas” in Nevada. Due to the nature of the soil composition here, only certain grape varieties are able to be produced as quality varietal wines. There is residual salt from eons ago, boron, and in many areas poor annual rainfall. However, sometimes stressing the vines can lead to a beautiful outcome in the long term.
