Run by the oenology program of Yavapai College.
On 8/2/26 a small group of us met at the Southwest Wine Center. The tasting room ran by students of the viticulture an oenology program of Yavapai College in Clarkdale AZ. This is a gem in the desert. Students learn how to plant, nurture, harvest, and make wine. Truly a monumental task in the high desert. The college had a great selection of warm climate grape varietals e.g. Tempranillo, Negroamaro, Grenache, etc. I enjoyed a vertical Tannat tasting encompassing 2022-2025 vintages. The setting was very nice high on a hill overlooking the verde valley, the students were knowledgeable, and the wines were good. We even came back a few days later to volunteer to help harvest. AZ is lucky to have a great wine education center. Worth the trip.
