Met some of the Monserate Vineyards & Winery staff at a charity event and received a 2-for-1 tasting card, so decided to check them out. The winery property is gorgeous and there’s so much parking it’s ridiculous. The tasting room is bright, airy, and offers plenty of indoor and patio seating. Park like setting with a beautiful lake, views of the vineyards, and sprawling grass areas for sitting out on your blanket.
On our visit, Candy poured for us, but the entire staff was very friendly and quite helpful. They offer rosé, sparkling, and white wines, but at that time of our visit, only four reds. My favorite was the 2019 Fedele (red blend of Estate Italian varietals), but most of the other wines were either a little too crisp/acidic (whites) or light bodied (reds) for our taste. In general, I think the wines are young and they will continue to develop over time. They also offered several local craft beer selections, for those non-wine drinkers. As I always state, wines are very subjective and what I like may not be your taste, so definitely try for yourself.
Now, the highlight for me was the food. We had friends meet up with us and we ended up ordering a Charcuterie Board, and three pizzas: Margherita, Meatball, and Truffle. There’s an outdoor kitchen off the patio and the pizzas were fantastic! Not an extensive menu, and a little pricy, but I’d go back just for the food and the winery’s scenic property.
