  1. Our first stop for our tasting weekend in Placerville. It’s lunchtime on a Friday afternoon. We picked this place to stop at first because it welcomed picnickers, and we wanted a place to eat the lunch we packed.

    The tasting room had about a dozen people in three or four groups. Tastings are standing at the bar only—no tastings outside, no stools or chairs inside. You are asked to pay for the tasting up-front (uncommon, but not unheard-of).

    The staff behind the bar were great. we had a nice time talking with them. Enjoyed the wines.

    We got glasses of wine to have with our lunch, and went outside to picnic. Found a nice tree-shaded spot near a pond. Boeger is the major winery in the area—large-enough to have retail distribution in places like Total Wines.—yet the tasting room & patio has a coziness that is unusual in larger wineries.

    Brought home a bottle of a nice white blend.
