There are currently no recognized AVAs within Montana. Montana is a relative newcomer to the U.S. winemaking scene. Montana wineries are experimenting with native American varieties, French-American hybrids, and vitis vinifera. Montana wineries also make a number of fruit wines and import grapes from Washington, Oregon and California.
