Oregon

Oregon’s wine-growing regions form a rough “L” shape or, more accurately a Γ shape. The east/west leg, across the top of the state, consists of three major regions: the Columbia Gorge AVA (shared with Washington); the Columbia Valley AVA (also shared with Washington); and the Snake River Valley AVA (shared with Idaho). The north/south leg running from Portland down the I-5 corridor to the California border, consists of two major regions: the Willamette Valley AVA and the Southern Oregon AVA. Portland is, officially, part of the Willamette AVA, but we know of no vineyards within urban Portland. For ease of trip planning, we have created a “Portland” designation to those wineries and tasting rooms that are within the city limits.
