Why do I have to sign up before I can add a comment?
For several reasons. First, its polite to introduce yourself when talking to people; second, it helps us prevent people from posting spam links and unwanted ads in the messages; and finally, as you make repeated comments, people start to get a sense of how your tastes match their own.
I signed up, why can’t I see my comment?
Because…the Internet! There are people who join sites like this, just to post links to stuff they’re trying to sell you. To prevent this, the first few (and we’re not saying how many) post you make must be approved by me. I will do this a quickly as possible, but I have a life (and there’s wine to taste)—so it might take some hours.
Why do you list wineries that are not open to the pubic, or out-of-business?
For a couple of reasons. First, you may find a wine—as a gift, in a store—and decide to visit. We would rather you find the winery and know that they don’t allow public tastings, than wonder why they are not listed. Second, wineries’ situations change. They leave and join shared tasting or Co-op facilities, they build and close tasting rooms. We feel its better to change the information in a listing than to add or remove them as changes occur.
