Just outside of Half Moon Bay, along Highway 92, are several miles of farm stands, nurseries, Christmas tree farms, pumpkin patches, petting zoos. La Nebbia is in that stretch. There is a sign, but it is not prominent—you need to be looking for it. They have a very nice patio which must be great in the warmer months. The day we were there was a Sunday afternoon in late January of an unseasonably warm winter, but it was windy-enough to be uncomfortably cold. Their indoor tasting room was closed that day for repairs. There was live music—a solo guitarist who was performing for the almost-empty patio.
They offer two three-pour tastings, but the server was willing to swap selections between the two, if I wanted. I chose an all-red flight: a merlot, a red blend, and a petit verdot. All three were very respectable wines. This is a winery, not a vineyard—they source all of their grapes from growers in the north coast and Central Valley of California.
The two servers were very nice, seemed knowledgeable about the wines and the winery, but at times a little hard to find.
This is a place we will go back to–when the weather is warmer!
