We’ve stopped here several times over the past 10 years and always enjoy wonderful afternoons at the winery. The grounds and vintage/historical items alone are worth the visit. They’re one of the last remaining wineries from the early days of viticulture in Rancho Cucamonga Valley, and California for that matter. There are several areas where you can either sit down at a table or enjoy a picnic in the “park”. Bring your own food or purchase charcuterie items (cheeses, meats, crackers, etc.) inside the tasting room.
WINES: On our last visit, the service was good and the tastings are in flights of four. You can mix and match between a selection of whites, reds, and dessert wines. In general, I felt that the white wines we tasted (Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc) were nice, well-balanced between crisp and oaky. On the other hand, the red wines we tasted (2 Zinfandels, Cab. Sauv., Malbec, Petite Syrah, and Cucamonga Peak Blend) were not to our liking, but there are plenty of people who love them. IMO, they’re very light-bodied and lack depth and/or finish. Now, the best part…the dessert wines (Sherry and Port style) which are their wheelhouse. Once again, we enjoyed all the sweet wines we tasted and left with several bottles. If you’re a fan of these types of wines, then Galleano is a must visit.
Stop in and try for yourself. I’m sure you’ll find something you’ll enjoy.
